Apologies if this is not the right place to ask, if there is a better forum for newbie questions please let me know I’m running through the “Becoming ansible” book and the first chapter has us setting up a docker image running ansible. It’s a pretty vanilla image here is the docker file FROM centos:centos7.7.1908 RUN yum check-update; yum install -y gcc libffi-devel python3 epel-release; yum install -y openssh-clients; pip3 install –upgrade pip; pip3 install ansible In my working directory I have a file named ansible drwxrwxr-x. 2 ec2-user ec2-user 6 Sep 16 13:35 ansible -rw-rw-r–. 1 ec2-user ec2-user 200 Sep 16 13:22 Dockerfile And I kick off the image with the image with the following command docker run -it –rm –volume “.:/ansible” ansible Inside the image I see the ansible directory and the permissions look fine [[email protected] /]# ls -al total 12 … drwxrwxr-x. 3 root root 39 Sep 16 13:35 ansible …. [[email protected] /]# id uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root) [[email protected] /]# I can cd into the directory but when I try to ls or touch a file it just gives me “permission denied” Any ideas at what I’m doing wrong? submitted by /u/EvilHomerSimpson [link] [comments]
