Hey Guys, I am trying to attach the NVMe device using VFIO to a Kubernetes pod. To give some background spdk runs on the bare metal and NVMe device added to the Kubernetes pod using vfio It works without any issues when the pod is deployed using the privileged mode but when I run with unprivileged mode, the device doesn’t seem to be accessible EAL: cannot open VFIO container, error 1 (Operation not permitted)EAL: VFIO support could not be initializednvme.c: 609:spdk_nvme_probe_internal: *ERROR*: NVMe ctrlr scan failed bdev_nvme.c:1766:spdk_bdev_nvme_create: *ERROR*: No controller was found with provided trid (traddr: 0000:88:00.0) $ kubectl exec -it pod-0 /bin/bash$ ls -ld /dev/vfio/91crw——- 1 pasokan pasokan 241, 10 Jul 16 14:44 /dev/vfio/91$ readlink /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:88:00.0/iommu_group../../../../../../kernel/iommu_groups/91 $ ls -ld /dev/vfio/vfio crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 10, 196 Jul 30 02:01 /dev/vfio/vfio Doesn’t looks to me like a permission issue! I have tried number of things but no improvement! 🙁 here are the additional capabilities I am adding while running it in the unprivileged mode IPC_LOCK,SYS_PTRACE,SYS_NICE,SYS_RAWIO,SYS_ADMIN any thoughts? submitted by /u/Cute_Sheepherder_920 [link] [comments]
