I am currently looking at a project where a cluster will be HIGHLY locked down. One of the big issues is pulling containers from the internet. Yes Yes I know. But unfortunately that is out of my control. So I am curious if it’s possible to run a registry, that can be used to pull down images. What I am thinking is something like this. A registry that sits on the network that has a little more freedom to pull images. An admin can then go to an interface and say “I need to deploy nginx to my cluster, so I need a copy of nginx image(s)” this would also allow for determine what images you want to allow to the cluster. Say the latest version of UberImage is 1.0.2 but you have only tested through 1.0.1. You can have your local registry still have 1.0.1 as “:latest”. This type of setup would also allow our security team to be able to do their “virus/malware” scans on the box ect. Is there ANY chance something like this exists? submitted by /u/CrankyCoderBlog [link] [comments]
